Summer Entertainment Ideas for Kids

Summer Entertainment for Kids

With the weather warming up, and most of us at home, there is a need for some easy, at-home-entertainment for our kids.

Back when the weather was more frigid here in Michigan, I picked up the book, There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather, by Linda Åkeson McGurk, from my library.

A Scandinavian mom shares her secrets to raising “healthy, resilient, and confident kids.” The premise of the book is about the outdoor lifestyle of the Scandinavian culture. It explores the benefits of being outside, explaining that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.

Since then, we have been making an effort to get outside daily, rain or shine. I have given the girls permission to get dirty, be messy and explore outside. We’ve ran in the rain, splashed in puddles and even made “dirt angels,” out of some fresh heaps of garden soil. Summer entertainment ideas for kids means less is more.

There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather: A Scandinavian Mom’s Secrets for Raising Healthy, Resilient, and Confident Kids (from Friluftsliv to Hygge) is currently being offered free with an Amazon Audible Trial.
