It’s December y’all. That means it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We got the tree up in our house and this year a special little elf is making her debut. Do you guys have Elf on a Shelf at your house? This is our first year, and I wasn’t sure how to start Elf on the Shelf for the first time. Then I had my first Elf on the Shelf idea….
Prior to our Elf coming from the North Pole I wasn’t sure how to introduce her. But as it turns out, Santa sends lots of little elves allover. They report all behavior back to Santa at the North Pole. Nice behavior is encouraged.
We got the girl Elf.
Elf on the Shelf Rules
Turns out there are a couple rules for elf on the shelf.
Rule One of Elf on the Shelf
To help protect your Elf’s magic your Elf can’t be touched. Otherwise, they may not be able to make it back to the North Pole.
Rule Two of Elf on the Shelf
You can talk to the Elf, but the Elf won’t talk back. The Elf does love sharing with Santa though.
Rule Three of Elf on the Shelf
Practice kindness and the Spirt of Santa. The Elf watches over to encourage family traditions, kindness, and the Spirt of Santa(which is a good transition for when the kids get older, if ya know what I mean).

First Introductions of Elf on the Shelf
Libby has no idea who Elf on the Shelf is. To introduce this magical Elf for the first time. We placed her way high in the tree. Somewhere she would notice her, but not be able to touch her. Alas, the perfect spot.
Our Elf is holding a long ribbon that runs through the Christmas tree to the book that comes with her.
It’s wrapped in special wrapping paper from the North Pole. This special red and white striped wrapping paper will also make some other small gift deliveries from the North Pole throughout the season.
Not going to deny it, I am super excited to start this new tradition. It will be fun to incorporate these Elf ideas with other ways to make Christmas Magic. I can’t wait to share with your our Elf adventures.
